Getting started
- Launch ShareFrame and grant Screen Recording access when macOS asks.
- Quit and reopen ShareFrame. macOS only applies a new Screen Recording permission on the next launch — this step is required, not optional.
- Drag the ShareFrame window over whatever you want to share, and resize it by dragging an edge or corner.
- In your meeting app, choose Share window and pick ShareFrame.
- Keep working normally. Your clicks pass straight through to the app underneath.
Common questions
The window is black, or says Screen Recording is required
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, enable ShareFrame, then quit and reopen the app. macOS does not apply the permission to an already-running app, so this last step is what fixes it in almost every case.
I can't find ShareFrame in my meeting app's share picker
Look under Window rather than Screen or Desktop — ShareFrame is shared as a window, listed as ShareFrame. Make sure the window is visible first; if you hid it, choose Show ShareFrame window from the ShareFrame menu bar icon.
The ShareFrame window disappeared
Closing the window hides it rather than quitting the app. Click the ShareFrame icon in your menu bar and choose Show ShareFrame window. To exit completely, choose Quit ShareFrame.
My clicks aren't reaching the app underneath
Click-through may be switched off. Open the ShareFrame menu bar icon and set Click-through to On. The title bar and the outer edges of the window always stay interactive, so you can still move and resize it.
The window keeps getting buried behind other apps
Turn on Always on top from the ShareFrame menu bar icon.
The shared image looks frozen or grey
Capture may have stopped. Open the ShareFrame menu bar icon and choose Start capture. If it does not recover, quit and reopen the app.
Does my audience see my whole screen?
No. They see only the region inside the ShareFrame window. Everything outside it — notifications, other windows, your desktop — stays private.
Which apps does it work with?
Any app that can share an individual window, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Google Meet, OBS and QuickTime.
