Privacy Policy

In short: ShareFrame collects no data, has no accounts, no analytics and no network access of any kind. Nothing you see on your screen ever leaves your Mac because of ShareFrame.

What ShareFrame does with your screen

ShareFrame uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit to read the region of your display that sits beneath the ShareFrame window, and draws it into that window on your own machine. Those frames exist only in memory while the app is running. They are never written to disk, never recorded, and never transmitted.

Whether anyone else sees that content is entirely determined by the meeting or recording app you choose to share the ShareFrame window with. That sharing is performed by the other app, under your control, not by ShareFrame.

Information collected

None. ShareFrame does not collect, store or transmit personal information, usage data, diagnostics, crash reports, identifiers or analytics of any kind. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

Network access

ShareFrame makes no network connections. It has no servers, no backend and no third-party SDKs. The app runs entirely offline.

Data stored on your Mac

ShareFrame saves a small amount of information locally so the app behaves consistently between launches:

  • the position and size of the ShareFrame window
  • your click-through and always-on-top settings
  • whether the introductory guide should appear at launch

These are stored in macOS user defaults on your own machine, contain no personal information, and are removed when you uninstall the app.

Permissions

ShareFrame requires macOS Screen Recording permission, which is what allows it to mirror the region beneath its window. You grant this yourself in System Settings and can revoke it at any time, at which point ShareFrame stops being able to mirror anything. The app requests no other permissions.

Third parties

ShareFrame shares no data with third parties, because it collects none. It contains no advertising, no tracking and no third-party analytics.

Children

ShareFrame is a general-purpose utility and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Any change that affects how data is handled will be reflected here before it takes effect in a released version of the app.
